Prot Build --> Sword, Staff, Wand??
Hey, I run a build with lots of enchantments, Like reversal, aegis, prot. spirit etc.
Now I want a Weapon with enchantment extension. But I offently see monks with a sword and a shield etc.
My question is what kind of weapon should I take? Staffs have +20% longer and swords only +10 % Or maybe a wand?
And why do some monks take a shield? thats useless unless you have 9 in tactics....
And maybe a stupid question, I never see a nightfall character with kurzick armor, Nightfall monks can get kurzick armor right? =S
Greets.

Swords/axes can have 20% enchants. Max shields give 8 armor without meeting the req, and can have a 30hp mod and 10vs a certain damage type or another useful mod. I find a shield and 5e sword a lot more useful than a wand/offhand, but most of it is simply preference. Aegis benefits greatly from 20% enchants, I think, but you might consider a fortitude sword/axe instead. Or get both and switch for aegis casts :P

Sword = Rajazans fervor Axe=Totem axe = Those are nice green swords/axes with the enchant mod on
+5 energy
20% longer enchants
Both got the mods that you would probably want, unless ur after a -5 energy set for pvp, but i really dont know since i dont really pvp that much
And yes NF monks can get kurz armor as long as you get to house zu helter(1.5k) or vasburg(15k)

-Swords, axes, and spears can all have 20% Enchant Longer Duration.
-Monks use shields in PvP because shields give a base Armor of +8 if you don't meet the requirements. Plus, you get the Armor Bonus from any Insignia that is on the shield.

Allright, thanks all of u! =D
1, more thing @ wilhelm, so if theres a shield that for example requires 9 tactics for 16 armor. you can still wield it only you get 8 armor?

Yes. A shield wielded without meeting the req will give you half the listed armor bonus. So, +8 armor. The upgrades/mods will apply as listed regardless of req.

If you can farm Byzzr Wingmender i would recommend that. Byzzr's benediction is a very neat offhand and the boss is quite easy to reach (I do not know exact locations, check wiki). Pair it with a totem axe and ull have enchant mod, a reasonable amount of energy and extra health.

I would like to say that you most defintly need a 15^50 staff with +60 health as your normal set. This allows you to have maximum health and therfore resistant to spikes. Extra 15% damage is not to be laughed at.
If you have 6 people in your team wanding when not casting or kiting it doesnt do an insignificant amount of damage.
Then have the enchant lengthening as a "swap"

But some staffs have +15 total energy, with sword/axe that's only +5 e, and I dont think that will work with my build, I have 45 energy now, (+15 from staff) and even now I sometimes run out of energy.
Build:
[skill]Zealous benediction[/skill] [skill]reversal of fortune[/skill] [skill]dismiss condition[/skill] [skill]protective spirit[/skill] [skill]gift of health[/skill] [skill]glyph of lesser energy[/skill] [skill]aegis[/skill] [skill]holy veil[/skill]

unless you're in gvg and there's a chain, drop aegis.
if you're in ra/ta you could do without prot spirit.
don't overheal.
you've spoiled yourself. less energy would help you actually to not mash buttons. you can do fine with the 35 energy from a sword/shield combo. when things get low switch to a sword/focus combo for another 12 energy. not to mention your +15 /-1 set.
the extra 8 armor and bonus defense of -10 v slashing/-10 v fire is more than helpful.

So... what do you suggest I take instead of glyph and aegis? Go Mo/me?

shield of absorbtion or shielding hands instead of Aegis.
IMHO, prot spirit and glyph are fine for PVE, as you monk for 8 people, and casting two prot spirits for 5 energy is very nice.
For RA/TA, i suggest going Mo/Me for hex breaker, as burst sins are still very popular.

gift of health is a great skill. at 11 heal it's very strong. still strong even at 9 heal.
in RA/Ta I like a snare to get away from the melee. grasping earth is a nice skill and you don't need to spec into earth for it to be useful.
hexbreaker is an ok skill but if the assassin uses shadow prison you won't be hexed but he'll still teleport to your location. i'd rather RoF myself, hit grasping earth and kite like a mother.

Bleh, dont really like shielding hands, long recharge for 1 target skill. And it only works with prot spirit if you cast it afterwards, otherwise its just a waste of energy xD. Aegis effects the whole team for 13 sec (with +20 enchant mod) and you can pull the heal out of Dismiss as well, so I'll stick to Aegis =P

What is wrong with Aegis it is very good at all pressure build and did someone say take Protective Spirit out in RA.I wouldn't that build looks fine to me no need for sheilding hands or well could just use shield of absorption or even guardian. There is one thing missing a condition remover got hex covered but no condition in stead of Aegis use mend condition or dismiss condition.
